MONTE SUBASIO TOUR

Departure from Assisi,visit of the hermitage Eremo delle Carceri. We continue towards the top of the Mount Subasio, nature parc with large meadows with splendid views on the whole of the Valle Umbra and it’s cities: Spoleto, Trevi, Montefalco, Bevagna, Spello, Perugia and of course Assisi.

Going down the opposite side of Assisi, we can visit the charming little village of Collepino, once an early medieval castle built by the Acuti family. The tour continues to Spello, typical medieval town on the southern slope of the Subasio. It is possible to admire Roman remains such as the monumental Porta Consolare, Porta Urbica and Porta Venere, but also the church of Santa Maria Maggiore containing one of the masterpieces of Renaissance art: the frescoes of  Pintoricchio in the Baglioni chapel.

At the end it is possible to visit one of the following monuments: the small sanctuary of Rivotorto, the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli (the Porziuncola) or San Damiano.
